Members of the Lethbridge Regional Police Service are interviewing two persons of interest in connection to a Monday night attack that claimed the life of a local man.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. August 31, police and EMS responded to an alleyway in the 900 block of 17 Street South following reports of an injured, unconscious man.

The victim, a 47-year-old man suffering from severe head trauma, was transported by ambulance to hospital. Further examination of the injured man determined he was suffering from significant internal injuries.

The man succumbed to his injuries in hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Calgary to determine the cause of the man’s death. The identity of the deceased has not been released.

The Lethbridge Regional Police Service is treating the death as a homicide.

Two unidentified persons of interest remain in police custody and are undergoing questioning. The persons of interest have not been charged with a criminal offence.
