Organizers of this year's Poppy Fund campaign expect to raise more money than ever before.

They anticipate many Canadians will be moved by the recent murders of two Canadian soldiers.

Joey Bleviss with Calgary's Poppy Fund said nearly a million poppies are ready for sale in Calgary.

Bleviss said there's been an increase in inquiries about poppies and also an increase in requests for wreaths for the memorials.

He said he's never seen a response to the Poppy Fund quite like this.

Last year the fund raised $2 million, this year's goal is $2.2 million and it's expected donations will surpass that.
