Police are now questioning the driver of another hit and run in Calgary, the third this week, that sent a mother and her two children to hospital.

At around 8 p.m. in the northeast community of Temple, a mother and her two children, a boy and a girl aged two and three respectively, were hit while they were crossing Temple Drive in a marked crosswalk.

Police say the overhead pedestrian lights were active when a white compact car, driving westbound, hitting the group, and then failed to stop.

The mother was thrown into the air as a result of the crash.

Emergency crews say the woman in her 30s suffered serious injuries, including a broken pelvis, in the crash. She was rushed to Foothills Hospital while her children were taken to the Alberta Children's Hospital as a precaution.

Her kids have been released, but the mother remains in hospital.

Residents on Temple Drive say they've seen a number of near misses and it was only a matter of time before something like this would happen.

Many say that they won't use the crosswalk until something is done to improve the safety there.

Police say that after a public plea, the driver of the car involved in the crash has come forward and is currently being questioned.

They have also recovered the car, a white Honda Civic, believed to be involved in the incident.

Police are also looking for any witnesses to come forward.
