Calgary police have identified a man that was killed in an altercation in the northeast community of Huntington Hills on Friday but have yet to reveal a motive for the murder.

Police were called to a home in the 100 block of Hunterhorn Drive N.W. at about 4:30 p.m. for reports of a violent incident.

Investigators say that a resident called after an injured man approached their home, claiming to have escaped after being held captive.

"In this situation we had a gentleman claiming he was held against his will. That point itself is still under investigation. The investigation of that led us to this residence.  It's not clear to us at this point who actually lives there," said CPS S/Sgt Grant Miller.

Officers found the injured man and EMS transported him to hospital with serious injuries. He has since been released.

Police searched the neighbourhood and came across another man in a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man has been indentified as 19-year-old Youssef Samih Jeha of Calgary.

An autopsy has determined that he died as a result of a stabbing.

Investigators have determined that an altercation took place at a nearby residence but they have not yet established a motive.

Police believe there are several other people related to the home but it is unclear how many may have been home at the time of the incident.

The scene was shut down for several hours while police investigated and several people were taken in for questioning. Police say they have all been released without charges.

Investigators say they do not believe this was a random incident and are asking anyone with information, who has not yet spoken with police, to call 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers anonymously using any of the following methods:
