A High River man is facing charges after a motorcyclist hit a bale of hay that fell from a pickup truck onto a highway near Blackie on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to Highway 23 at about 4:45 p.m. for reports of a crash.
Police say a pickup truck was hauling a trailer full of hay bales when one fell off and landed on the highway in the westbound lane.
A group of motorcyclists was following behind the truck and a female rider collided with the bale and laid down her bike at highway speeds.
The 41-year-old woman from Calgary was taken to hospital by STARS with unknown injuries.
A 61-year old man from High River is now charged with transporting goods without securing the goods properly and operating a motor vehicle without a licence.
The driver of the truck was not injured in the crash and police are investigating.
