A 45-year-old motorcyclist is dead after a collision Sunday morning.

Calgary Police say it's believed alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Police say at about 2:00am Sunday morning, a 1974 Chevrolet venture van was heading west on 17th Avenue approaching Stoney Trail as the motorcyclist was travelling eastbound on 17th Avenue.

Police allege the van crossed the centre line and collided head on with the motorcycle.

The 42-year-old van diver was not injured, but has been charged with impaired driving.

Police say he was arrested at the scene and charges of impaired driving causing death are pending.
