Albertans who are nabbed by police for speeding and other traffic violations will pay 35 percent more in fines starting May 1st.
The increase was introduced in Budget 2015 to help pay for provincial programs and services.
General speeding fines have increased by about $20 and the distracted driving fine has gone up over $100.

User fees for registries will also increase on July 1st, but the province says it will remain below the national average.

In March, the province also increased fuel and tobacco taxes and says all of the fiscal adjustments will increase revenue by $207 M.
