The RCMP Traffic Services has seized a haul of Magic Mushrooms after pulling over a vehicle for speeding near Lake Louise.
Officers out on patrol on Highway 1 stopped an eastbound vehicle for speeding on September 27th, 2012.
Police found approximately 2 Kg or 3.75 pounds of Psilocybin, commonly known as "Magic Mushrooms" and say the drugs appeared to have been freshly harvested.
They also located two, .22 caliber rifles, one of which was loaded, in the vehicle.
"This is a great example of the efforts and hard work performed by the RCMP Traffic Services" says, "K" Division Traffic Service, Sgt. Wilkinson. " This Psilocybin seizure is considered to be significant in the recent Alberta's drug seizure history. Alberta highways continue to be an active pipeline for contraband. "
Three people were arrested and face numerous charges including Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking of psilocybin, Firearms Offences, Breach of Probation & Prohibition Orders.
They were later released on $500 bail and are scheduled to appear in Canmore Provincial Court on December 12th, 2012.
