The eastbound lane of Highway 1 west of Banff has reopened after a mud slide shut down the roadway on Friday afternoon.
Officials say there was over a half a metre of mud on the road about two kilometres west of the Banff townsite.
Heavy equipment was needed to clear the mud and traffic was backed up for kilometres while crews worked.
The eastbound lanes reopened just after 6:00 p.m. but the westbound lanes will remain closed for another two to three hours.
RCMP say if did not received any reports of vehicles stuck in the mud and there were no injuries.
