Two men are facing charges in connection to the homicide of Wayman Cornell Scott whose body was found on a rural property near Conrich eight years ago.

RCMP have arrested and charged David Daviau, 28, with first-degree murder and Kyle Andree, 29, with manslaughter and accessory after the fact.

Police say both accused are from Calgary and were picked up in Ontario and taken into custody.

“They surfaced as suspects very early in this investigation when it first began,” said RCMP Inspector Tony Hamori.

The body of Wayman Scott, 32, was dumped in a frozen field near a rural road on December 11, 2006.

Police say the investigation revealed that Scott was shot at a Calgary residence and then taken to the Conrich area.

RCMP and Calgary police followed up on inquiries and uncovered further evidence in the case which resulted in the charges.

“It was a long and complex and ongoing investigation, the investigation has not stopped since it began in 2006 but I can’t go into specifics right now in terms of what the most recent developments were that led to the charges at this particular time,” said Hamori.

Daviau and Andree are being brought back to Alberta to face the charges and are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

Police say the investigation continues and they are asking anyone who may have additional information in this case to call Calgary RCMP Major Crimes Unit at 403.699.2640 or Crimestoppers to make an anonymous tip at 1800 222-8477
