A monumental sports facility has opened in Calgary.
The Sunridge Badminton Centre is a 30,000 square foot facility with 16 professionally approved courts.
It is the largest badminton centre in Canada and has the highest ceilings of any indoor badminton facility in Canada.
The goal is to provide training and practice space for badminton enthusiasts as well as attract new players to help the sport grow.
"The cost is reasonable," says Moe Amery, the MLA for Calgary-East. "It seems to be something many were waiting for and the friendships I have seen here are fantastic ."
Fans of the sport, including Edward Lee of the Badminton Centre, are amazed by the facility.
"Not only is it a badminton facility but it's the biggest," says Lee. "This is something that players have been waiting many years for."
The new centre is located at 401 33 St. N.E.
