According to data from a recent survey, it’s going to be a big challenge in the coming months for those working in the oil industry because of the low price of crude.

Mercer, a consulting company, surveyed over 150 oil and gas companies in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico, asking them about their short term plans to deal with the price of oil.

Of those surveyed, 16 percent said they could be looking at reducing their staff while 32 percent said they would be reducing the amount of work they hand over to contractors.

Nearly half of the companies surveyed said they would be doing all they can to reduce capital expenditure.

One-third of respondents said it’s still too early to tell.
