Calgary Transit is already planning for the next big expansion just three days after the city launched the new West LRT line.

Council met at City Hall on Wednesday to review a new report submitted to a committee.

The plan has been designed by RouteAhead and it calls for more LRT legs, more high-frequency bus routes, more information about bus arrival times, and higher fares for commuters coming in from the outer suburbs.

The new plan has been given a price tag of $12.9B in upgrades over the next 28 years.

Once the entire infrastructure is in place, it will cost the city about $460M every year to implement.

RouteAhead will present its long range vision of transit in Calgary to the city’s transportation committee later on Wednesday
