Hundreds of ringette players have skated their way into the record books setting the Guinness World Record for the Most Participants in a Ringette Exhibition Match.

Players from U7 to U19 took to the ice at Winsport at the end of December to attempt to set the record and celebrate the 50th anniversary of ringette in Canada.

The game took almost seven hours to complete and then about seven months to verify the results.

On Thursday, Anne Brady, the President of Calgary Northwest Ringette, announced the record setting news and confirmed that 259 players qualified the record.

The achievement is the first ringette-related Guinness World Record ever set.
