Okotoks RCMP are warning the public to be aware about an individual seen in the community who is reportedly impersonating a police officer.

Police say they have spoken to a woman who was pulled over on July 21 on 112 Street W. in DeWinton.

She said that the vehicle the man was driving had red and blue flashing lights and he identified himself as a police officer.

He requested the woman’s licence and registration, taking the documents back to his vehicle for a short period of time.

He returned to the woman’s vehicle and told her to slow down, saying he’d issued her a $200 fine and penalized her three demerit points.

Police are looking for the suspect, who is described as:

  • Caucasian male
  • Between 20 and 30 years old
  • Short dark hair
  • Short facial hair, stubble
  • Dark eyes
  • Slim build
  • Long face with square chin

Investigators say he was wearing a tan uniform with police badge pinned on chest.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident or other crimes is asked to call the Okotoks RCMP at 403-995-6400 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
