Police shut down Deerfoot Trail at McKenzie Towne Blvd in the southeast after an officer involved shooting left one person dead and another in critical condition.
Police say HAWCS was keeping an eye on a suspicious vehicle in the south end of the city at about 10:30 p.m. Friday.
Officers on the ground stopped the vehicle at Deerfoot Trail and McKenzie Towne Blvd S.E. and a police firearm was discharged.
One person is dead and another is in critical condition. No officers were injured in the incident.
ASIRT is now investigating, which is standard procedure in an officer involved shooting.
