Residents in northwest Calgary got a look at the new francophone school planned for Scenic Acres during an open house meeting on Tuesday night.

Plans for the school, to be partially built on the existing Scenic Acres Park, were on display at the meeting.

Some parents are looking forward to the new school, saying the city needs it.

However, some residents are also opposing the idea, saying there hasn’t been enough public consultation and they’re unhappy with the proposed location.

The chair of FrancoSud, the school board administrating the new facility, says a portion of the park had been designated to have the school.

Officials hope to open the school in two years.
