Oprah Winfrey is in Calgary for an 'Evening with Oprah' at the Saddledome and her visit is a dream come true for a local Calgary designer.

Planning for the performance on Tuesday night began months ago and Liz Nandee of Basic Black Designs was chosen to be the set designer for three of Winfrey's shows: Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary.

Nandee watched Oprah as a girl and she says she was given creative freedom on the set, so set out to combine her personal touch with Oprah's flair.

"I just really hope that she is satisfied and that she feels like exactly who she is. Someone that's wonderful, has touched a lot of people. I just hope that a small amount of what I'm doing will do that for her," says Nandee.

Winfrey took to the stage at Rexall Place in Edmonton on Monday night and spoke about her humble beginnings right up to her famous interview with disgraced cycling star Lance Armstrong.

The media mogul even made a joke about the interview that drew millions to her OWN network.

“I was going to lose weight, but then Christmas came and then I called Lance. He said he would meet me at my house. And the day I was going to start my diet, he came over and that he would do the interview.”

Oprah takes the stage at 7:00 p.m. at the Saddledome and will then hold a short question and answer period.

Tickets are still available on the Ticketmaster website, where floor seats are available for $434.
