A Calgary mother is furious after learning that the man charged with sexually assaulting her 10 year old son now lives just a few blocks away.

In an exclusive interview with CTV News, the boy’s mother says the last few months have been difficult and the latest news is just too much to bear.

The boy’s mother found a series of disturbing text messages and images on her son's cell phone in January and contacted police.

Peter Anthony Goulden, 50, is facing a number of charges including sexual assault and luring a child.

It is believed that the boy found sexually explicit notes in a cemetery and then connected with Goulden when he called the number on them.

"When they made the arrest and traced the number back to Peter Anthony Goulden he confessed that he had performed oral sex on my son," said the boy’s mother. “Then they arrested him, that was great, and then I found out, it must be a week and a half ago, that he’s been released right into the same neighbourhood where his victims live, so it’s been hard, it’s very, very hard.”

Goulden is also charged in an unrelated case with sexually assaulting a woman in the same cemetery in July 2014.

A court has approved the residence he is currently living in but he must abide by several conditions.

Goulden can't have access to the internet or electronic devices and no access to minors under the age of 16 unless there is an adult present.

He has also been ordered to stay away from Queen's Park Cemetery and other parks where minors may be present.

Calgary police say officers will be monitoring Goulden closely and if he doesn't abide by the conditions he will be returned to custody.

The boy’s mother says the conditions don’t go far enough and she is devastated.

“My son could run into him at any time. I guess I just don't understand why they would release him into the neighbourhood where his victim lives three blocks away," she said.

She says she is not in a position to move at this time so she will be keeping a close eye on her son.

Goulden's next court date is April 8th.
