An Alberta family is hoping to turn its personal tragedy into a catalyst for change in the healthcare system.

David Price says his son Greg died prematurely.  Price says “we believe he died prematurely because of multiple gaps and failures in the so-called system of healthcare in Alberta.  We also believe Greg’s individual experiences are not unique".

Greg Price was 31 years old when he died in May, 2012, following a year of pain and discomfort from testicular cancer.

A 92-page report from the Health Quality Council of Alberta identifies four instances in which the system “broke” down.

It’s made recommendations aimed at making it easier for patients to navigate specialized healthcare services.
