The Calgary Flames have a lot of work ahead of them if they expect to make the playoffs in the lockout-shortened NHL season.

According to new head coach Bob Hartley, they’ve been training for months during the lockout.

“We have plan for everything from a four day to a 10 day camp, but I probably know it’s not going to be a 10 day camp. We’ll get ready for this, the plan is right there and once we have all the details, we will be ready,” Hartley says.

He hopes to have about 30 players in the camp.

With the projected 48 game schedule, players will need to cram in a lot of games in a short period of time.

Each team will average about 3.5 games per week and every game will really count towards the standings for the playoffs.
