The city’s first taste of playoff hockey went off without a hitch on Sunday, and the Calgary Flames are now up two games to one against the Vancouver Canucks in the first round.

The wave of excitement following the Flames’ 4-2 win over the Canucks still hasn’t died down.

The game included goals from Brandon Bollig, T.J. Brode, Sean Monahan, and Sam Bennett with the game winner and first NHL goal of his career.

The players and head coach Bob Hartley said the energy during the game nearly blew the roof off the Saddledome. The crowd inside was apparently chanting so loud before the game that Hartley and the Flames could hear it in the dressing room.

Hartley said after the game that the win was all about playing their game and not letting Vancouver get the upper hand.

“I felt our puck pursuit was great. Our reads in the neutral zone was good. Our neutral zone was good. Our angling was good; we didn’t give them much room. They’re so talented and they throw four lines and they keep coming at you. I felt the way we played tonight’s game; we prevented them from getting the drop on us.”

Game 4 will be in Calgary on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
