Calgary Police and the CREB held a presentation on marijuana grow ops on Thursday night, hoping to share information on the signs of spotting one in your neighbourhood.

The session also featured the impact on health and safety and how “grow shows” can affect the value of surrounding homes.

During the presentation, the Calgary Police ‘Green Team’ showed video taken inside of a busted grow op. They also made reference to a fire in Citadel that destroyed five homes which was started by a grow op.

“Just to be vigilant, be aware of who your neighbours are,” says Sgt. Tom Hanson of the CPS.

Police say they open about 600 grow op investigations every year and execute roughly 150 warrants.
