Lethbridge Police have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with a home invasion that took place in Coaldale late Tuesday night.

At about 11:48 p.m., police were called to the 900 block of 21 Avenue where three masked suspects broke into a home in the area.

The group confronted the occupants of the home, sprayed pepper spray and struck one the occupants, a 23-year-old man, with a bat.

The victim was able to defend himself and overpowered the suspect and held him until police arrived.

The other suspects managed to flee the scene. Search teams, along with K9 units, investigated but could not locate them.

Jake Jesse Blazek, 18, was arrested at the scene and possessed pepper spray, a bat, and other break-in tools.

He is charged with house breaking and commit robbery, disguised with intent, possession of an offensive weapon, and two counts of assault with a weapon.

The investigation is ongoing to locate the other suspects.

Police don't believe that the attack was random.
