Calgary police have arrested a man in connection with a crash that claimed the life of a woman and sent another to hospital.

The vehicle then slid across the eastbound lanes of Memorial Drive where it struck a large tree.

Kanaye Renfrew, 30, was the passenger in the front seat of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 32-year-old woman, who was in the backseat, was taken to hospital in critical condition. She remains in hospital.

Dale Cameron Neisz, 38, the man behind the wheel of the car, was also taken to hospital with serious injuries.
