Police have arrested the man they believe is responsible for a kidnapping and sexual assault.

Michael Nadolnick was located around 5 p.m. at the Red Pepper Pub in the 4800 Block of 26 Avenue in the northeast.

Patrons in the bar say they didn't realize Nadolnick was amongst them until police came into the bar. Eight officers entered the lounge, surrounded him and arrested him.

Once Nadolnick was placed in a police car he tried to kick the window out. He is now being questioned by officers with the Sex Crimes Unit.

On Monday, a 19-year-old woman was kidnapped at gunpoint from a business in the community of Monterey Park. A 68-year-old man in a truck was carjacked and the two victims were forced to drive around the city for over four hours. Neither victim knew their attacker.

The woman was sexually assaulted several times and forced to call another woman on the phone to talk about her ordeal.

Nadolnick is charged with sexual assault with a firearm, break and enter and kidnapping, unlawful confinement, robbery with a firearm, and unlawful possession of a handgun.

In 1998, Nadolnick  was convicted of sexual assault with a weapon. The assault happened in the North Battleford area in Saskatchewan.

In 2002, Nadolnick was convicted after a random break-and-enter robbery that sent two men to hospital with multiple stab wounds.

Nadolnick was released from the Bowden Institution in September. Calgary police were made aware that he was in the city but did not feel an alert to the public was warranted.

Prior to Monday's attack, Nadolnick was also wanted for failing to make a scheduled appearance before the parole board.
