According to police, the victim of Thursday morning's attack in a southeast neighbourhood is 46-year-old Cuong (Andy) Hoang of Calgary.

Calgary police have located and seized a beige minivan in connection to the Auburn Bay homicide.

Just before 9:30 a.m. Thursday, emergency crews responded to Auburn Sound Circle S.E. following reports of gunshots. On arrival, crews located the lifeless body of Hoang in the road.

“The autopsy is currently ongoing on the Auburn Bay individual who died yesterday,” said CPS S/Sgt. Colin Chisholm. “Until the autopsy is completed, we will not be releasing cause or manner of death.”

“We believe it was a targeted attack.”

According to witness reports, two men were seen fleeing the neighbourhood in a beige minivan shortly after gunshots rang out. Early Friday morning, the beige minivan was seized from an undisclosed location.

“We’ve spoken to a number of individuals, but we’re looking for anybody else who has information to come forward and to call us,” said S/Sgt. Chisholm.

S/Sgt. Chisholm says Hoang's family is cooperating with the ongoing police investigation.

Anyone with information about the Auburn Bay attack is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service, 403-266-1234, or Crime Stoppers.
