A man who was attacked on a street in the Marlborough Park area on Sunday evening has died from his injuries and police are now treating his death as a homicide.

Police were called to a disturbance in the 5500 block of Maddock Drive N.E. at about 9:15 p.m. and found a man in his 20s had been seriously assaulted. He was taken to hospital by EMS, but later died from his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Tyler Sanderson, 24, of Calgary, and police believe the assault was not a random incident.

Investigators are not releasing the cause of death at this time and say Sanderson is the city's seventh homicide of 2016.
