Police investigate suspicious death of child in city’s northwest

Calgary police are investigating the suspicious death of a young boy at a home in the northwest community of Ranchlands.

Emergency crews were called to a home along Ranchlands Grove NW on Saturday evening at about 10:00 p.m. for a check on welfare and found the little boy dead inside.

EMS transported a woman from the home to hospital in stable condition.

Neighbours say Fatim Bamba, 28, and her three-year-old son Isaiah lived in the unit.

Sasha Moline is a neighbour and says the boy and his mother kept to themselves.

“I can’t fathom why this would happen, it’s absolutely heartbreaking and makes me really angry. I don’t even have the words, it’s absolutely horrible,” said Moline.

Police are investigating and so far have not released any details regarding the death.
