Police are trying to determine what's behind a shooting which took place in northeast Calgary about 1 a.m. Monday morning.

Officers descended on the 100 block of Anaheim Circle N.E. where they found some shell casings.

There are also bullet holes in two homes and the side of a vehicle.

The Crime Scene Unit is investigating.

They say they’re not sure if this was a targeted shooting or not.

No one was injured and there aree no suspects at this time.

The shooting has left residents of the quiet neighbourhood quite surprised. Tim Adams, the next door neighbour of one of the homes affected says he heard a flurry of gunshots in the middle of the night.

"Shortly before 1 a.m., there was a rapid fire of shots. Literally, somebody was unloading a clip," Adams told CTV on Monday morning. "First we thought it was an airsoft gun, kids playing around. Nothing else, no squealing tires. We took a look out the back window, couldn't see anything, took a look out the front, no activity."

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
