A woman's body was found early Friday morning at a home in the city's southeast.
Police were called to the 0-100 block of Dover Meadow Close at around 6:30 Friday morning after callers to 911 reported hearing several gunshots.
Police say they found a woman in her 20's dead in the home.
Neighbours say they suspect drug activity was taking place inside the home and aren't surprised the violence rapidly escalated. They say the troubles started when the home owner rented the basement apartment to a man in his 30's about two months ago.
When the tenant moved in, they started seeing suspicious activity with unknown cars parking in front of the home, then going around entering from the back alley.
"They stay about 15 to 20 minutes and then they are gone," one woman, known only as Donna, said.
She and other neighbours say that the residents in the home kept a low profile and rarely interacted with anyone else on the block.
On Friday morning, one of the neighbours who called 911 heard the shots, then someone shouting. A few moments later she says she saw a man with blood on his shirt walk out.
Police continue to interview witnesses. No arrests have been made.
Forensic tests on the body are expected to take place next week.
