The Calgary Police have arrested a woman in connection with a savage dog attack that happened last weekend in Sundre.
Rita Phillip, 57, was arrested on Thursday night at the Calgary Casino after a citizen alerted them.
Sundre RCMP are reported to be aware of the arrest.
Police say that Phillip ordered two pitbull-type dogs to attack her friend and then took off before help arrived.
The friend, a 26-year-old woman, was left with life threatening injuries and was rushed to the Foothills Hospital for treatment.
RCMP says that Phillip didn’t own the dogs involved in the attack, but was caring for them.
When police arrived on scene, they apprehended one of the dogs but was forced to shoot another after it attacked one of the officers.
The fate of the second dog is yet to be determined.
