In preparation for the upcoming trial in connection to the deaths of Nathan O’Brien and his grandparents, Alvin and Kathy Liknes, investigators have reignited their search of the property belonging to the parents of the accused.

On Sunday, investigators returned to the Garland acreage, east of Airdrie, to resume their search for evidence to support the charges facing Douglas Garland. The accused was arrested on July 14, 2014 and charged with two counts of first degree murder and one count of second degree murder in connection to the disappearance of the Liknes’ and their grandson.

In June of 2014, Alvin and Kathy Liknes, and their grandson, five-year-old Nathan O’Brien, disappeared from the Liknes home in the southwest community of Parkhill.

According to Calgary Police Service officials, there is no new information in regards to the location of the victims.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled to begin on May 19, 2015.
