Police, along with the co-operation of the online classified site Kijiji, have now determined that a stabbing on Sunday night was a targeted attack.

At about 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, a man in his 20s arrived at hospital with a woman, believed to be his girlfriend.

He was suffering from a stab wound and was quickly treated by medical staff.

At the time, it was believed that the man was meeting a group of people in response to an online ad he had posted to sell his cellphone.

He met with a group of three men in the parking lot of the Shawnessy Shopping Centre in southeast Calgary and got into their vehicle, where he was subsequently attacked.

Police have now ruled out that the man was meeting with someone he met online.

They believe it was a targeted attack.

The investigation is ongoing and police are trying to work out a motive for the attack.

The suspects, three black men all about 19 years old, are still being sought in connection with the incident.
