Calgary Police are looking for a driver who stole an SUV from the parking lot of a northeast hotel and took it on a joy ride.

At around 2 a.m. on Thursday, police got a call saying that a vehicle had been taken from the Holiday Inn on 16 St. N.E.

HAWCS managed to locate the SUV and followed it as it raced along Deerfoot Trail, Memorial Drive, and Edmonton Trail, hitting speeds topping 140 km/h.

At one point, the vehicle stopped at Centre Street and a passenger got out of the vehicle.

That man was subsequently arrested by police.

The suspect that police are looking for then abandoned the vehicle at around 4:30 a.m. in the 3300 block of Centre Street N.

There was no sign of the driver.

Anyone who may have any information that could help police is asked to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
