Calgary police have arrested two people and seized a significant amount of drugs in connection with a bust last week.

In June, police were notified about a drug operation at a northeast home and a man who is alleged to have been selling and manufacturing the drugs there.

On Friday, police arrested two men during a traffic stop near the home, in the 6400 block of 4 Street N.E.

Police found various amounts of drugs, including fentanyl, cocaine, heroin, cash and a fentanyl pill press inside the vehicle.

“Fentanyl is a big concern for us and it’s a big safety concern and obviously the ability to produce in a mobile environment like that. Moving from one location to another very easily does make it more difficult for the police as far as investigation goes and it is a very big safety concern,” said Insp. Mike Bossley of the Investigative Operations Section. “The drugs that were seized , the 65.5 grams of fentanyl, we listed a value of about $43,600 for that but in fact, if you take that to the pill level, where you’re looking at $20 a pill for fentanyl, it’s actually about $1.3 million worth of fentanyl so incredible profit for very little investment.”

Inside the home, police found a magic mushroom growing operation, a cocaine pill press and a pellet gun.

“That is pretty unusual. We haven’t seen a lot of that and typically you’re just looking at a very simplistic kind of growing environment with some dirt and water and that type of thing so not a very sophisticated grow operation but not that common for us to see either,” said Bossley.

Police say the following was found during the investigation:

  • 13.7 kilograms of magic mushrooms, worth $136,884
  • 65.5 grams powdered fentanyl, worth $43,688
  • 28.3 grams of heroin, worth $11,320
  • 39.5 grams of cocaine, worth $3,950
  • 656.1 grams of cutting agents for manufacturing
  • $415 in cash

Sheldon Tyler Adams, 31, has been charged with a number of drug-related offences, including production and possession.

Adams was also charged with the possession of property obtained by crime.

Brandon Sean Carter, 32, was also arrested with the Adams in the vehicle and has been charged with four counts of unlawfully being at large.
