The Calgary Police are issuing warnings to residents to ensure their homes and vehicles are secured before they turn in for the night.

The reminder comes as a result of a number of break and enters in several communities including:

  • Arbour Lake
  • Rocky Ridge
  • Royal Oak
  • Harvest Hills
  • Coventry Hills
  • Hidden Valley

In each one of the incidents, the culprits gained entry to homes by removing screen windows and doors, through unlocked windows and doors, or through overhead garage doors. Investigators say that many of the homes were occupied at the time they were robbed.

Police don’t know if the incidents are connected.

Police remind Calgarians to secure their homes and vehicles throughout the day, whether or not they are occupied at the time.

The CPS also offers the following tips:

  • Hide or preferably remove any valuables from vehicles, including garage door openers
  • Lock all doors and windows, including doors leading from an attached garage into a residence Screen doors and windows do not provide any level of security as they can be easily cut or removed
  • Turn off power to overhead garage doors
  • Report any suspicious activity to police by calling 403-266-1234. Crimes in progress should be reported through 911.

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service at 403-266-1234, or Crime Stoppers anonymously using any of the following methods:
