Authorities have reopened the QEII in both directions just north of Carstairs after clearing a crash that killed one person and sent three others to hospital.
At about 7:00 a.m., Airdrie RCMP, Didsbury RCMP, Alberta Sheriffs and emergency crews were called to the scene just north of Highway 581, the turnoff for Carstairs.
STARS has been called to attend the scene as well.
Stuart Brideaux with AHS says that four patients were involved in the single vehicle rollover, with one of them, a male, declared dead at the scene.
Three others were transported to hospital in serious condition. Two men were taken by ground ambulance while the third was flown from the scene by STARS.
All of the victims are in their late 20s to early 30s.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash and the cause is still under investigation.
