Banff RCMP say that remains found in early September have been identified as those of a missing Montreal man.

On September 5, police were called to a remote location on the Rundle Range for a report of human remains being found in the area.

The remains were found by a Search and Rescue Team that were in the area looking for the missing Ralph Greenaway.

Authorities believe the remains had been there for quite some time and identified them as 21-year-old Michael Morrissette of Montreal.

They say Morrissette had been reported missing in March 2013.

Morrissette’s family has been notified of the discovery.

The cause of death is still under investigation.

Anyone who knew Morrissette is asked to contact Banff RCMP at 403-762-2226.
