Innisfail RCMP are asking for public assistance in locating the vehicle and driver involved in a Tuesday night highway collision west of Penhold which claimed the life of an 18-year-old local man.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., Tyrstan Sorensen and a friend were longboarding on Highway 592, approximately 4 kilometres west of Penhold. An eastbound SUV collided with Trystan and the 18-year-old’s injuries proved fatal. The driver of the SUV, believed to be a Caucasian female, did not stop following the crash.

RCMP do not believe the collision was intentional and are asking the driver to come forward.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a blue Chrysler or Dodge SUV and RCMP believe the vehicle received damage to the front passenger side in the hit-and-run.
