Authorities in Red Deer are trying to track down a suspect who robbed a pharmacy while wielding what he claimed was an infected needle.

At about 2 p.m. on February 10, police say a man entered the IDA Pharmacy on Ross Street.

He produced a needle, which he claimed was infected with Hepatitis C, and threatened the staff, demanding them to hand over drugs from behind the counter.

Police say the suspect specifically demanded morphine.

The suspect managed to get away with an undisclosed amount of drugs.

The RCMP say they have identified the suspect and are actively trying to track him down.
