A Calgary woman was in court on Tuesday to face charges of sexual assault involving girls on the ringette team she coached.

Kelsea Hepburn, 24, was charged nearly two years ago with molesting a 13-year-old player.

Five more charges were added after the girl and her parents came forward to police.

One of the girls testified at Hepburn’s trial on Monday saying she never wants anything to do with the young coach again.

On Tuesday, the mother of one of the alleged victims testified and told the court that her 13-year old daughter was going through a tough time when the molestation began.

She said her daughter was grieving the death of her grandmother and her mother's cancer diagnosis and confided in Hepburn in a moment of weakness.

Hepburn passed all criminal background checks before being hired as a coach.

The trial continues on Wednesday.
