Fire crews were called out to a northwest mall on Wednesday morning after a drilling crew ruptured a water main filling part of the parking lot with water.

A crew was doing some core sampling just past 7:00 a.m. and hit the water line releasing a flood of water into the lot on the east side of the mall.

Fire officials say the water was shut off just before it started to seep into the mall area.

“Everything has been shut off so we’re just waiting to get the truck up righted safely and remove the water from the parking lot,” said CFD West District Chief, Dennis Graham.

Graham says the sewer system should take care of most of the water but trucks can be brought in to pump it out if necessary.
