Due to extreme wind chill, schools in Southern Alberta have made the decision to close because of the dangers the temperatures can pose to students.

So far, the Livingston Range School Division has closed schools in Lundbeck and Pincher Creek.

Buses on the Pikani First Nation are not running, but the Brocket School is open for students.

Several routes in the Foothills School Division are cancelled: 7,12,42,51,59,65. Officials say that it is up to the parents whether or not their kids go to school.

All students in the Calgary Board of Education are at home for a professional learning day.

Schools are reminding parents to not leave their children waiting at bus stops as many buses may be delayed due to conditions.
