Ringette is a uniquely Canadian, purely female game and for 18-year-old Lindsey Kee it has been part of her life since she was a little girl.

Lindsey has been playing the sport since she was just seven.

"I really like the team dynamic of it and lots of friends for sure, like at the very beginning I made tons of friends and you get to skate and that's what I love too and find that it is faster than a normal hockey game," said Lindsey.

When Lindsey is not playing with the U19 team at the provincial level she is coaching.

Lindsey works with players from the Calgary U14 AA Credo now, but she made her coaching debut with the U7 Developmental Ringette Bunny Program.

"That was a lot of fun, so entertaining and really we worked on skating most of the time, just standing up. It was good to give back and it's how I continued and just got asked by other coaches and I took the coaching courses and it was very easy," said Lindsey.

Lindsey says coaching has given her an understanding of leadership and a respect for sport.

"It's given me a leadership understanding. How to work, not just in sport, but through work and school and how to respect others around me," said Lindsey.

For her dedication to her sport and willingness to share her knowledge with others, Lindsey Kee is the CTV Calgary Athlete of the Week for Friday, March 9, 2012.
