An Alberta man has died in a Calgary Hospital after crashing his snowmobile near Caroline on Monday.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP were called to a collision involving a single snowmobile on January 21, 2013, at approximately 7:30 a.m.

The crash happened at a T-intersection in Clearwater County near the community of Caroline and investigators say it appears that the snowmobile was traveling west on a township road that came to a dead end.

The snowmobile continued through the T-intersection and into the treed area across the roadway.

The 33-year-old male driver, who resides in the area, was airlifted to Calgary by STARS in critical condition but died from his injuries on Tuesday.

RCMP is investigating the cause of the crash and says the man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Police are not releasing the name of the man and say no charges are pending.
