The heavy snow is impacting a few flights at the Calgary International Airport and travellers are encouraged check on the status of their flight before they head out.

Snow started falling shortly after 10 p.m. on Sunday in Calgary and airport crews were ready for it.

The airport released a weather advisory, saying that many airport operations will be affected due to the winter weather conditions.

Officials say that departures, arrivals, and baggage delivery may all be affected.

WestJet has also issued an advisory reminding guests to check the status of their flights before leaving for the airport because there may be delays or cancellations.

The airline says that any customer who wishes to make alternate flight arrangements to avoid the aforementioned three cities can do so without penalty.
