Residents in the neighbourhood of Oakridge awoke to discover a neighbouring home had transformed into a fully operational Tim Hortons shop.

“Yesterday it was a house, today it is a Tim Hortons, an operating restaurant,” said Doug Gunn, director of marketing Tim Hortons. "We started quietly, inside the house, doing stuff on Sunday morning but we turned the house into a restaurant last evening."

The decision to temporarily convert the Oakfern Way home into a temporary restaurant, complete with a glowing LED sign, was part of a creative approach to draw attention to Tim Hortons’ ongoing hiring initiative in Calgary and Alberta,

"It's a block away from my house," said Kayla Perry, while enjoying a free coffee. "It looks like a restaurant and there's people sitting at tables."

“We are inviting people to join us today to have a coffee and talk about maybe an opportunity to work at a local Tim Hortons in the Calgary area,” explained Gunn.

Tim Hortons is looking to fill 280 positions in Calgary and 1,800 positions province wide.

The Oakfern Way Tim Hortons location, which faces South Glenmore Park, opened at 6:00 a.m. and will permanently close at noon to allow crews to retransform the building into a residence.
