Environment Canada says poor air quality may return to Calgary and southern Alberta over the next few days, but the organization has ended the special air quality statement it issued Monday morning.

Conditions over the province remain in the low to moderate risk category but Environment Canada says the forest fires in the Northwestern United States are continuing to produce large amounts of smoke and there is a possibliity that elevated air quality health index values could return over the next few days.

Everyone is reminded to not use backyard fire pits or fire boxes in parks as fire bans remain in place.

As of 1:30 p.m. Monday, Calgary’s Air Quality Health Index is currently at 2, which is considered low risk.
