A state memorial for former Premier Jim Prentice has been scheduled for October 28 at Calgary’s Jubilee Auditorium, the province announced on Wednesday.
Jim Prentice was on board a flight with three other men, Ken Gellaty, the father-in-law of one of his daughters, Sheldon Reid and pilot Jim Kruk, when it went down on October 13 shortly after takeoff.
The wreckage of the plane was found in the woods north of Kelowna.
On Wednesday, the Transportation Safety Board announced that it has wrapped up the investigation of the crash site and recovered all the data needed.
The wreckage will now be removed via helicopter and taken to a facility for further analysis.
Investigators say they will now be looking over drone images from the RCMP, examine components, gather information about weather conditions, review aircraft maintenance records among other methods to determine what happened.
"We will be thorough in our analysis of the data we have collected, and will continue to gather information as the investigation progresses," said Beverley Harvey, TSB's Investigator-in-Charge in a release.
The investigation will take about a year to complete.
The TSB would like to recognize the efforts of RCMP, the B.C. Coroners Service, Transport Canada, the National Transportation Safety Board of the United States as well as representatives from the aircraft manufacturer and engine manufacturer.
Prentice’s memorial will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the Jubilee Auditorium in Calgary.
It will be open to the public.
